Changing gear-palming technique.
When changing gear-palming technique should be used to move the gear stick.
- Try to avoid gripping the gear stick tightly. Use an open hand.
- Use neutral – the gear stick will always return to neutral position when taken out of gear. For example when changing 5th to 4th take the car out of 5th, let go of the gear stick and the gear stick sits in neutral. Then move the gear stick straight back to 4th gear.
- Try to avoid looking down at the gear stick when changing gear.
- Remember changing gear will become natural if you practice enough repetitions, (muscle memory).
